The laboratory of Prof. Zhong-Wen Liu was established in 2006. Focusing on C1 chemistry & chemical engineering, Research Center of Applied Catalysis of SNNU and Key Laboratory of Syngas Conversion of Shaanxi Province directed by Prof. Liu were cultivated and inaugurated in 2016 and 2019, respectively. The research interest of Prof. Liu’s laboratory is the heterogeneous catalysis for clean and renewable fuels, understanding the heterogeneous catalysis at a molecular level, and the design of high-performance catalyst via molecular engineering. Currently, the specific topics include: (1) Chemicals & liquid fuels via selectively controlling the product distribution of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis; (2) Hydrogen production for fuel cells via the reforming of oxygenates such as dimethyl ether; (3) The utilization of CO₂ as a soft oxidant and the catalytic synthesis of fine chemicals by using CO₂ as a reactant or a green medium.
