3. Research Interests

Dr. Ren Wei's main research areas include the design and fabrication of rare earth-based nanoprobes, bio-nano interface chemistry, and intelligent signal transduction. Leveraging state-of-the-art controlled nanosynthesis technology, he revealed the anisotropic surface properties of lanthanide-doped upconversion nanoparticles. He has explored a series of innovative surface functionalization strategies to yield reliable nanoprobes. Furthermore, Dr. Ren has discovered and investigated the aggregation-augmented magnetism of lanthanide-doped nanoprobes. Based on this research, diverse bio/chemical sensing platforms and devices have been developed.
